RAM is the Key to Increasing Productivity and Efficiency
Introduction – What is RAM?
RAM is short for Random Access Memory. It is a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly, meaning data can be read from or written to any location and any order.
RAM is a type of memory that helps your computer do its everyday tasks, like loading apps, browsing the internet, and editing a spreadsheet. Having more RAM usually makes your computer run better.
Your computer uses memory to do lots of things, like running programs or responding to commands. If your computer is slow, it might need more memory. You can upgrade your computer’s memory yourself.
Your memory is a bit like your desk. It allows you to work on different projects at the same time and the more projects you have, the more papers and folders you can have out. You can access the information quickly and easily without going to a filing cabinet. When you’re finished with a project or leaving for the day, you can put some or all of the projects in the filing cabinet for safekeeping.
How a RAM Upgrade can Increase Productivity and Improve Efficiency
The amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) in a computer is one of the most important factors that determines how fast it will run. A RAM upgrade can increase productivity and improve efficiency by providing more space for your work.
The speed of a computer is determined by its processor, the amount of RAM and the type of hard drive it has. The more RAM you have, the faster your computer will be able to process tasks – meaning you can get more done in less time. This can help make you more efficient at work, which means you’ll get promoted faster!
The Advantages of a RAM Upgrade
If you want more performance or speed in your computer, upgrading the system memory is one of the first things that you should do. The more memory that is available in the system, the less often data has to be written from the hard drive back into memory when a program needs it. This means that programs will start up faster and run smoother without any lag time between tasks.
Personal Experience of Upgrading RAM on My iMac Retina 5k, Late 2015
I acquired an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) a few years back. It was working fine for a while, but recently I noticed that it’s getting slower. So I’ve decided to upgrade RAM.
With only 8GB of RAM, the system struggles right out of the gate, and will start writing lots of data to disk in fairly short order. Thankfully, it’s ridiculously easy and relatively cheap to upgrade iMac’s RAM. The Retina 5K iMac features four DIMM slots, and can accommodate a maximum of 64GB of RAM. Feeling like 64GB is probably overkill for this machine, I opted for a 2 x 16GB DIMM package from Crucial. This provided me with a total of 24GB when combined with the pre-installed RAM of 8GB, which is more than enough memory for Final Cut Pro X, and whatever else I decide to throw at this iMac.
I ordered the 16GB of Crucial RAM from Amazon, and as you can see, the price is a bargain compared to the exorbitant prices that Apple charges for RAM upgrades. My computer now works so fast, and my productivity got so much better.
